The start page will be displayed when you first come to the website.

You can go to the search screen by clicking the "search for exercises" button. This will allow you to set selection criteria and find appropriate exercises.

Alternatively you can find recommended exercise programs for common conditions and problems by clicking the "Show Examples" button.

You will need to log on to access the website`s full functionality. This is free and you can logon via an existing account from another site.

Choosing another language

Non-english speakers can choose from a number of languages at the top right of the page. These translations are done by volunteers and may be incomplete. If you wish to assist us by volunteering to translate, please email us

Logon (physiotherapyexercises.com)

You must be logged on to the website to save exercises into programs and to access previously created programs. Use the top menu to log on. If this is your first visit, simply type anything into the username and password boxes, then click the "login" button. You should use something you can easily remember for subsequent visits. You do not need to provide email or personal details. There is no cost. You can only EDIT the text and reformat exercises by logging on and creating exercise programs.

Logon (Open Id)

You can logon to this site with your existing Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft or Yahoo accounts.

The search screen displays a gallery of images of exercises that match the current search criteria.

Using Search

You can change the search criteria using the panel on the left.

You can search for keywords by typing in words in the box in the top left panel, seperated by spaces.

You can also select one or more search criteria from each heading.

If you select one or more criteria from a heading then a small icon will appear to the right of the criteria heading. Click the icon to clear the search for this criteria.

The bottom option in the let panel allows you to choose the text that is displayed with your exercises.

You can clear all search criteria by clicking the magnifying icon at the top of the left panel.

The number of matching exercises appears at the top of the screen.

Selecting Exercises

Clicking on an exercise image will select it. Once you select your first exercise, a panel with further options will appear on the right. Clicking on the exercise image again will deselect it.

Exercises previously selected will still be displayed if you change your search criteria.

Selected exercises will be displayed in the right panel under "selected exercises".

You can change the order the exercises appear in the right panel by clicking on an exercise and dragging it up or down in the list of exercises.

Saving Exercises

You can output your selected exercises into various document formats with various predefined templates.

You can also output the exercises as a mobile booklet suitable for your client`s phone, tablet or computer (see the section below titled "Making a mobile booklet").

If you want to save your exercises into a program so you can alter them further, you need to logon. You can create an account or use an existing account from other popular sites.

Once logged on, you will be able to see any previous programs you have created and you will be able to enter a name for your new program.

To save an exercise program, enter a program name in the red box. Then click "save exercises" below the red box . This will open a new window to allow further formatting.

  Select from program
Adds exercises from a previously created program to you current selection. This can be used to add exercises from a search to a previously saved exercise programs. You will need to save the combined exercises with a new name.

Undo last select
Reverses the last action related to selecting exercises

Image match
Displays a medal indicating how well the exercise image matchs your search criteria. Many exercises have multiple images. The software choose the image that best matchs your selection criteria.

Previous image
Displays the previous image (for exercises with multiple images).

Next image
Displays the next image (for exercises with multiple images).

Displays a window showing the exercise image in more detail

Display exercise text
Displays a window showing the full exercise text

Listen
Reads exercise text out loud (only works on IOS at this time)

Document
View in Word (only v2000+)
Displays the results of your current search strategy in word format. You will NOT be able to select exercises but you will be able to change the text. Please note that not all users will have compatible software and consequently may not be able to access this function. It is only available for Word version 2000 or higher.

View in HTML
Displays the results of your current search strategy in HTML format. You will NOT be able to select or edit the exercises.

View in PDF
Displays the results of your search strategy in PDF format. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed for viewing

Email exercises
Sends the exercises to the entered email address. The exercises are sent in HTML format within the email.

Mobile
Send to mobile device
Opens window to enable you to generate a version of the exercise program that can be viewed on mobile devices. This can be either emailed or sent via SMS to clients. Clients can record when exercises are performed.

Toggles between the Image Gallery and Text Gallery. The Text Gallery displays the text and images for the exercises. The Image Gallery displays just the images. You can select exercises from either gallery.

Making a mobile booklet
Displays an example email for mobile booklet
You can send a mobile version of an exercise program to your client which can be used on a mobile phone, tablet or computer.

The client will receive a link to the exercise program via email or SMS.

The exercise program will be displayed as a list of exercises for each day and the client can tap on the exercise to see the exercise instructions.

There are 2 ways to create a mobile version of an exercise program, namely:

1. Using the icon in the Quick Options (this does not require you to log on). If you use the Quick Option and are logged in, then your program will automatically be saved for you.

2. Logging on and saving an exercise program. You will be given the option to save for a mobile device and a screen with many options for formatting will open.

Both options enable you to see a preview of the mobile version which you can interact with.

When you have finished, you must click the "Send Mobile" button.

Email

A mobile version of a cilent`s exercise program can be either sent by email or by SMS.

To send via email, you must provide your client`s email adress and name. This will not be accessed or used by anyother person including the managers of the website.

You must enter your own email address so that any replies from your client come back to you.

You can opt to have a copy of anything sent to your client also sent to you.

If you are logged on, you can include an email signature (this is entered in the "Update your details" tab -located in the top right menu). You can add what ever text you like here including contact information or a default message.

A mobile version of a cilent`s exercise program can be either sent by email or by SMS.

To send via SMS, you must provide your client`s phone number including the country code.

You can also enter a brief message.
Schedule

You can set an exercise schedule for your client. Exercise schedules can be as long as 12 weeks. Alternatively, you can opt for no exercise schedule in which case your client will be able to see their exericses for ever.

You can choose to allow clients to record when the exercises are performed.

You can choose when the exercise program starts, either the last monday or the next monday.

If logged on, you can include contact details, which are entered in the "Update your details" tab - accessed from the top right menu of the website.

You can also choose which days the exercises are to be performed.

You can update your details but this is optional. These details will be displayed to your clients in their mobile versions if you opt to allow this.
Customising your exercise programs

There are many ways to customise your exercise programs. Most tabs display a"print preview" to show how it will look. You can output exercise programs into PDF, word, HTML format. Or you can email as attachments or post on twitter or facebook.

The number of tabs that are visible are determined by whether you selected to save to mobile or document or both.

You can also delete, archive or restore your exercise program or exit without saving any changes.

The is an option to set a default for all exercise programs. The default settings are accessed on the left menu of the website under "Saved exercise programs". You must be logged on to see this option.

Exercises
Exercises
The exercises tab allows you to edit the program name, delete exercises, edit the text of the exercises, add page breaks between exercises and re-order the exercises.

You can also enter the client`s email address and/or phone number. This will be used as a default if your email or SMS the exercise program to your client.

The output mode controls which tabs are available.

The changes will only be made permanent once you click the "save" button.

You can re-order the exercises by clicking on the text of the exercises in the panel on the left hand side and dragging the exercise to a different position.

You can edit the exercise text by clicking the exercise image. It will then become bold.
Buttons
Marks exercise as deleted. You can undo this before saving
Moves current exercise down list of exercises in the program

Font sizes

The font sizes tab allows you to alter the size of the text for each section. Alter the size of the images and choose the page size for PDF and Word generation.

A font size of zero will make the text invisible. Font sizes range from 0 to 7.

An image size of zero will make the image invisible. Font sizes range from 0 to 390 (pixels).

Use the "print preview" to check.

The recording table tab allows you to add a table so clients can record when they perform the exercises.

You can set the number of rows, define whether to split the exercise into left and right components, or display five or seven day weeks.

A font size of zero will make the text invisible. Font sizes range from 0 to 7.

You can enter your own column and row headers seperated by commas.

The easiest approach is to change the font size and review the "print preview" to ensure it looks as you desire.

The schedule tab will affect the recording table as well. Setting a schedule will put "X's" in the cells of the table, so printout versions can also be used to display what the client should do.
Header and footer

The header and footer tab allows you enter text that appears at the beginning and end of the exercises, text that appears in the header and footer, as well as add your own images.

The easiest approach is to change the font size and review the "print preview" to check.

Upload your own images

You can upload image files to our server for use in the header but these will not show up in the PDF and word versions.

Images are stored in users` accounts and can not be accessed or seen by other users.

Image files need to be in png, jpeg, jpg, gif, or bmp format. They must not be bigger than 1 Mb.

The text visibility tab allows you turn on/off the visibility of the sections of exercise text, the repetition text and/or the exercise classification data (used in the search criteria).

Clients`s mobile
Customising your program - client`s mobile
The client's mobile tab allows you to modify the look of the mobile booklet.

You can choose the format of the exercise list as Image Only, Image and Text or Text only.

You can choose to allow them to record when the exercises are performed or just have the booklet for information purposes.

You can include contact details, which are entered in the "Update your details" section under the "Options" button at the top right of the screen.

You can decide on when you wish to receive warnings if the client is not entering any data.

A preview of the booklet is displayed on the right, you can open it in a new window by clicking the "Output exercise program" button and choosing the "preview mobile" option.
Schedule
Customising your programs - schedule
The schedule tab allows you to make up a complicated schedule and/or the review client’s progress to the schedule.

A schedule requires a starting date, and a duration (number of weeks) and whether the schedule is for a five day week. Changing these options will automatically change the resulting schedule.

You can set the client to do every exercise each day by clicking the “schedule all” button.

You can set the client to do no exercises by clicking the “clear schedule” button.

Setting a manual schedule

It is quite easy to manually set a schedule.
  • To toggle the schedule for a single day/exercise, click on the table cell.
  • To mark an exercise as required for every day, every week, click on the exercise image/title cells.
  • To mark an exercise as required for a particular week, click on the week cell.
  • To mark all exercises to be required for a particular day, click on the day cell.
Currently there is no easy way to quickly undo what you have chosen. You must undo cell by cell.

Reviewing patient progress

The schedule will display icons from the start of the schedule to the current date.
  • If the patient has done the exercise, it will show up as a green tick.
  • If the patient has not done the exercises, it will show up a red cross.
A summary of progress can be seen in the topmost leftmost cell.

Patients choosing not to make their data available

If the patient chooses not to make their data available you, the icons will all be yellow and no summary information will be displayed.
Review your clients` progress
An example list of client's programs
This screen allows you to review all the mobile exercise programs sent to your clients. It shows you what your clients have done. The list includes name of exercise program, status and percentage completion.

You can refine what you see by:
  • Clicking on the title of each column of the table to sort.
  • Clicking on the "show" button of the table to see the details of the exercises you prescribed.
  • Archiving or deleting exercise programs.
You can hide exercise programs whose status is not of interest by unchecking them in the list on the left.

You can set an acceptable percentage of exercises completed by your client. Programs under this percentage will have the completion column displayed in red.
User options
 Email addresses are added as you email people. You can also add/delete and update them here.
 Word templates
Once logged on, you can maintain your account details by clicking on the options button at the top right.

Delete account

This will delete your account and all your exercise programs.

Change username

You can change your username at any time. Users names must be between 1 and 50 characters long and can not be in use by another user.

Change password

You can change your password at any time. Passwords must be between 1 and 50 characters long.

Change email address

You can change your email address. This will log you off. You can log on again after verifying the new email address.

It is not compulsory to provide details

Word templates

The word templates tab is for users who need absolute flexibility in the booklets. You can download a word template, modify it to suit your needs and then upload it back to the server. You can then use this as a template for your booklets.

You can include your own headers and footers, images fonts and styles.

Requires Microsoft Word 2007 or later.

Templates are stored on a per user basis, they are not visible by other users.

Template files can be no larger than 1 Mb.
